Guerrero (NYY) and Lucero (NYM) win monthly pitcher award
It's the 3rd time that the American League Pitcher 
of the Month award goes to New York (A)'s pitcher <a 
href=p906.html>Pedro Guerrero</a>. He had an ERA of 
just 1.47 in 55 innings of work in which he struck 
out 43 hitters. His record in August is 5-1. Pedro 
has a record of 15-9 this season, with an ERA of 3.39. 
In 225.1 Innings he was able to strike out 174 batters. 
He has one complete game and one shutout. He's 9th 
in the American League in ERA and 9th in wins! <a href=p551.html>Douglass 
Lucero</a> pitched like a legend in August, and the 
National League named him Pitcher of the Month for 
his extraordinary performance. His record of 4-1 in 
5 was among the leagues best this month. In 36.2 innings 
of work he allowed just 29 hits while striking out 
52, compiling an ERA of just 1.72. Douglass pitched 
a shutout as well. His ERA of 3.84 helped him to a 
11-10 record this year. He struck out 252 and walked 
49 in 175.2 innings. He has 4 complete games and 3 
shutouts.
